Cataract Surgery

 
Currently cataract surgery is effective and efficient in about 98% of patients. This surgery does not require general anesthesia, except in very particular situations, which can be done without hospitalization and with local anesthesia. The surgery time is small ranging from 20 to 30 minutes.
Surgeries are performed at Hospital Particular do Algarve - Gambelas (Faro).
 

Pterygium Surgery

 
Pterygium - Formation of a small fibro-vascular membrane that develops from the conjunctiva, invading the cornea.
It is usually nasal and develops very slowly. It frequently presents a hereditary pattern and is closely associated with prolonged exposure to the sun and wind.

Refractive Surgery

 
Refractive surgery comprises the procedures performed for surgical correction of refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism).
The surgery is performed on the cornea, with the aim of modifying its shape and therefore, its natural power.
 

Argon Laser

 
For treatment of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, other retinal disorders, some forms of AMD, TRVCR, retinal tears, etc.
 

Yag Laser

 
Posterior capsulotomy with posterior capsule opacification, iridotomy.
